We've been big fans of Barcelona-based artist and designer Emilio Garcia for quite a while now and we are beyond excited to have him in yet another Street Anatomy gallery show, FACE OFF: Skull-A-Day vs Street Anatomy opening May 31 at the International Museum of Surgical Science in Chicago.

Emilio started as a freelance art director and visual artist working with some major international clients. After creating digital based projects for quite some time he craved a chance for something more tangible. He eventually left his career and with a fascination for plastic started the Secret Lapo Laboratories, a space for plastic experimentation. His first project was the now famous Jumping Brain, a combination of brain and frog. Due to his artistic growth and budding success, Emilio is also involved in all sorts of neuro-urban merchandising, from art toys to skate decks, mugs, keychains, clothing and more.

He's gone on to create many other whimsical brain-based objects including the recent Skull Brain and ARThropod Brains, the latter for a recent show in Hollywood at the Toy Art Gallery. ARThropod Brain by Tokyoplastic and Emilio Garcia is inspired by electron microscope images, macro photography and the often mind boggling weirdness of the insect world.

Now Emilio' sculptures are currently being exhibited in art galleries, art fairs and museums in the U.S. and internationally, including ours! View more of Emilio Garcia's work at emiliogarcia.org!
