Anders Krisar

Anders Krisar armAnders Krisar is a Swedish photographer and sculptor. Many of his sculptures depict portions of the human body separate from the whole, and also with various indentations and transformations. The above arm has to be my favorite of his pieces. It is simultaneously painful and beautiful. It also speaks more personally to me because I often think of my left arm as missing a giant chunk due to an almost 20 year-old break that never set correctly and lead to eventual surgery.Anders Krisar chest handsI also like this chest piece a lot. I love how it can be viewed as missing bits of flesh and also highly impacted by human touch. Maybe those hands did not remove flesh, rather they left an impression, literally and figuratively.Anders Krisar facesYou can view more of his work on his site, including some amazing photographs.[via Likecool]
