Japanese artist Yoshitoshi Kanemaki uses Japanese wood carving techniques to create giant sculptures from large blocks of camphor wood. Each sculpture impressively stands anywhere between 5 and 17 feet tall. His characters are literally fused with death, looking as if they are either burdened with it or embracing it. Kanemaki truly embodies memento mori on a massive scale.
