Anatomic Fashion Friday

Anatomy has always been cool, but lately there has been an increase in the number of clothes and accessories featuring well designed anatomical/medical illustrations.  So much so that I needed to start a separate category on this blog just for apparel!  And I’m not just talking about the ubiquitous skull image, but also anatomical hearts, lungs, arteries, brains, vintage anatomical illustrations, etc.  Thus begins a new series of posts called Anatomic Fashion Friday that will feature apparel made by anatomically inspired designers.

To start things off I give you, Cloudy lungs and Starving stomach hoodies by contemporary artist Dee Adams.

That’s exactly how my stomach feels around lunchtime.

  1. i just got commissioned to do some heart shirts for a band, i’ll send them along once the designs are drawn up. im a fan of the new category!

  2. Alec – I didn’t know she used to be a medical illustrator, that’s fantastic. I think more medical illustrators should venture into making some pop culture products.

H – Can’t wait to see the shirts!

  3. I know Dee. Funny thing is she used to be a medical and scientific illustrator at Cornell University years ago.
