Arbor Vitae: Cerebellum Tattoo

Cerebellum tattoo on Matt

Cerebellum tattoo on Matt

This cerebellum tattoo was submitted by Matt Millard. One of the most unique anatomical tattoos I’ve seen yet.

The arbor vitae (Latin for “Tree of Life“) is the cerebellar white matter, so called for its branched, tree-like appearance. It brings sensory and motor information to and from the cerebellum. [via Wikipedia]

I can see where that’s an interesting concept, but the execution is one of the most hamfisted bits of ink I’ve seen lately.

Where was this done? In the joint?

Ouch, vanderleun, what a glib dismissal. Is that how you’d introduce yourself at a cocktail party? “Hey, your personalized permanent body art, it sucks…” Play nice, and take another look at this piece: blackwork but more like old anatomical illustrations than classic tattoos, very Gray’s Anatomy lettering, interplay between the literal image of the cerebellar section and the tree…
