If there was ever a street art show I’d like to see, it would be Nychos (with ROA following close behind). One of my favorite street artists out there right now, Nychos is known for his amazing exploded views of human, animals, and whatever else he can manage to stuff with anatomy and blow up. His style is fun and slightly shocking which I imagine fits his personality quite well.

I’d Like to Meat You is Nychos’ first solo show in the U.S. taking place at Inner State Gallery in Detroit, Michigan. The theme of the show draws upon Detroit’s Eastern Market, an area known for its public murals, produce, and freshly butchered meat.

Compiling his anatomic knowledge with sliced cross sections, x-ray peek-ins and detailed dissections “I’d Like To Meat You!” will be a colorful exploration of new works on paper, canvas and wood highlighting Nychos’ skilled range across graffiti, illustration and street art. –Inner State Gallery

I didn’t want to remain stagnant with my use of anatomy, so with my new work I wanted to slice everything up and play with the slaughterhouse feel a bit. Overall the show will play with the idea of humans and animals, along with how interact with the food chain. You don’t think twice about the steak you eat. You see it everyday, but don’t take notice of the muscles and bones that make up a cow when you eat a steak. –Nychos

If you’re in or around Detroit, I highly suggest going to see this show. I might make the drive from Chicago to Detroit myself to see it!
