Anatomic Fashion Friday: Bird Brain

Bird Brain by Erin Jessica King

Bird Brain detail Erin Jessica King

Bird Brain by Erin Jessica King available at Threadless for $18

Drawing upon inspiration from her lab coordinators for the human anatomy course at the University of Colorado, Erin Jessica King created this piece using the analogy that the midbrain, pons, medulla oblongata, and the cerebellum collectively,

“are what anatomists describe to their students as looking like the body and wing of a hummingbird.”

midbrain, pons, medulla oblongata, and the cerebellum, and collectively, hummingbird.

Very cool way and artistic way to teach anatomy.  Hope Erin produces more anatomical prints like these!

Yeah Erin mentioned on Threadless that she made a typo, “I’ll fix the file, but the shirt will have to go down in history with a big ol’ typo :)
    Still a fantastic shirt!
